
Paul E. “Pete” Mentink passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 16, 2023 at his home in Cedar Grove. He was 85 years old.
Paul was born October 7, 1937 in Sheboygan, the son of Edwin and Vera (VanDuren) Mentink. He attended Cedar Grove High School, graduating in 1955. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.
For many years, Pete worked as a plumber with Ruesink Plumbing & Heating, retiring in February of 2000.
Pete had enjoyed coaching slow pitch softball, and playing fast pitch softball. An avid golfer, Paul spent many hours on local golf courses.
Pete is survived by his brother Ronald Mentink of Cedar Grove, sister Margaret (Thomas) Sholta of Minocqua, nieces and nephews: Lynn (David) Johnson, Tedd (Terri) Mentink, Tim (Rosemary) Mentink, Jeff (Joellen) Mentink, James (Mary) Mentink, Hope Bruggink, Keith (Sharon) Hahn, Rachel (Jason) Ferraro, Christine (Rick) Franz and Mark (Michelle) Sholta, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas Mentink and David (Connie) Mentink and sister-in-law Ruth Mentink.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00PM on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Wenig Funeral Home, 108 Center Ave. in Oostburg. Pastor Brad Bradford will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00–5:00PM.
