Forecasts of snowfall in Sheboygan County had largely gone unfulfilled this winter – until Thursday when a vigorous system did what forecasters said it would. Various sources report an average 5 inches of snowfall with some heavier totals in the Kettle Moraine and lighter amounts immediately along the lakeshore. No matter the location, though, roads got slippery beginning around noon, resulting in the Sheriff’s Department responding to 10 cars in the ditch and 3 crashes between 1 and 8 p.m., and 10 crashes between 2 and 7:30 reported by the Sheboygan Police Department.
Those looking to finally get out on the snowmobile or skiis will need to act quickly, though, as temperatures are forecast to rise to highs around 40 over the weekend, and exceed freezing for the first half of next week. And then…maybe another storm beginning Wednesday.
