
Sharlee Schaafs-Mittelstaedt, age 71, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, January 24th.
She was born on February 26, 1951, in Duluth, MN, to the late Ernest and Ruth (Mattson) Vocelka. She
attended local schools and graduated from South High School in 1969. She furthered her education and
received a bachelors degree in education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In 1972, Sharlee was
united in marriage to Gerald Schaafs and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2004. In 2007, she was
united in marriage to Larry Mittelstaedt who preceded her in death on July 7, 2009. Sharlee was
employed for many years at Sheboygan Medical Arts and the Sheboygan County Board of Realtors. She
entered the dog world in 1990, where she became an AKC certified agility judge and trained multiple
dogs. This enriched her life with travel experiences and a group of lifelong friends.
Sharlee enjoyed bowling with her husband and friends and attending her daughters events, such as
sports, band, etc. She found joy in making many memories with her granddaughters throughout the
years.
Sharlee is survived by her daughters, Jodi (Steve) Heim and Rachel (Mark) Noltner; granddaughters,
Laura Heim and Siena Noltner; nieces, nephews, other family and friends further survive.
Along with her parents and husbands, Sharlee was preceded in death by her step-father, Harley Mueller;
sisters-in-law, Mildred (Arno) Albrecht and Marlene (Ted) Zimmermann and a nephew, Ray Albrecht.
A Memorial Service for Sharlee will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Ballhorn
Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N 8th St. in Sheboygan with Pastor Krysta Deede
officiating. Family will greet visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of
the service. Sharlee will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who cannot attend the service
for Sharlee can do so virtually on her obituary page on the funeral home website.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sharlee’s name.

the last few months.
