Judith J. Mayer, 85, of Sheboygan, was called home to heaven on Friday, December 23, 2022 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Born August 29, 1937 in Milwaukee, Judith was a daughter of the late Eugene and Marguerite Tank Semmann. She attended Milwaukee area schools and graduated from Lutheran High School in Milwaukee in 1956. She continued her education as an X-Ray Technician. On September 6, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ronald D. Mayer at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee with her grandfather, The Rev. Arnold H. Semmann officiating. They were married for 51 years before Ron preceded her in death on April 7, 2010.
Judy worked at St. Michael’s Hospital for many years. She also managed Roentgenologist Associates X-Ray Clinic in Hales Corners. She was a member at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Trinity Lutheran Church in Wautoma and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where she sang in the choirs, was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, participated in Bible Study and served as a Stephen’s Ministry Volunteer. She enjoyed camping and road trips around the country with her family. She also celebrated her 80th birthday at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Her greatest joy was entertaining her family and friends, especially later at their retirement home, Two Owls in Wautoma, WI.
Judy is survived by her children, Jon (Pat) Mayer, Wauwatosa, Peter (Sally) Mayer, Sheboygan, and Lisa Powell, Frisco, TX; her grandchildren, Christopher (Brie) Mayer, Evan Mayer, Matthew Powell, Nicholas Powell, Meghan Powell; her great grandson, Liam Mayer whom she was blessed to meet shortly before she died; her brother, Ronald (Ann) Semmann; her sister, Carol (Gary Valine) Renner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband Ron, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Semmann; and her sister-in-law, Miriam Semmann.
Funeral services for Judy will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Trinity Lutheran Church or funds may be contributed to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
