Even though we mourn the loss of our dad, Gerhard (Gerry) Jacob Ebbers, age 87,
we rejoice in his home going to His Faithful Lord and Savior on Christmas day,
December 25, 2022.
Gerry was born September 16, 1935, the youngest of seven children to Lammert
and Elberdina Cornelia (Schut) in Ermelo, The Netherlands.
In May of 1954, Gerry immigrated to Canada. In Canada he met the love of his
life, Teuny Stolker, at the wedding of his sister and brother-in-law, Corry and Ted
Vlaming. They were married on July 26, 1958, at the Second Christian Reformed
Church in Weston, Ontario, Canada. Teuny preceded him in death on April 24,
2020.
In 1962, the family moved to Sheboygan where Gerry worked for a few weeks at
Buteyn Excavating, then at TeSele Auto Dealership, and retiring from The
Sheboygan Glass Company in 2000 after 35 years.
Gerry was an active member of Christ Community Church and served His Lord
and Savior with gladness. He served as Sunday School Superintendent at Beacon
Light Chapel. He was involved with the Boys Club as leader. He served many
years leading worship services at various nursing homes in Sheboygan. Gerry also
served as an elder and deacon and on other various committees in church.
Gerry and Teuny were involved with Meals on Wheels and The Good As New
Shop in Cedar Grove for the Sheboygan Christian School.
To dad, his family was very important. He was very thankful to the Lord for
blessing him with a loving wife, being a dad to his children and a loving Opa to his
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by his five children: Gerald Ebbers (Yvonne Otte), Marilyn
Ebbers, Joyce (Tom) Nagel, Rick (Gwen) Ebbers and Ken (Lucinda) Ebbers,
grandchildren: Johnathon (Amber) Nagel, Tyler (Laura) Ebbers, Jaymee Ebbers,
Tessa (Brian Hofman), Spencer Ebbers, Michelle Nagel, Austin Ebbers, Caleb
Ebbers, Jared Ebbers and Paige Ebbers, great-grandchildren: Liam, Tobias, Willa
and Alistair Nagel; Laine and Mia Hofman.
He is further survived by his sister Corry Vlaming of Canada, brothers-in-law
Ernst (Ludy) Stolker and Sander (Toos) Stolker, sisters-in-law Jenny Stolker,
Jenette Stolker, Dickey (Henk) Van Ingen Schanau, and Loes (Peter John
Schouton) Stolker all of The Netherlands. He is also survived by many nieces and
nephews in various parts of the world.
Gerry was preceded in death by his wife Teuny, his parents, mother-in-law and
father-in-law Gerrit and Dirkje Stolker; three brothers: Dirk (Willy) Ebbers,
Gerrit (Willy) Ebbers, Henk (Corry) Ebbers; two sisters: Gerry (Albert) Klein and
Netty Ebbers; brother and sisters-in-law: Henk (Ria) Stolker, Janny (Klaas) Wind,
Gerry (Ben) Bangen, Corry (Gerrit) Feyers, Simon Stolker, Ridi (Tom) Van Zandt,
Tine (Pete) Blokhuis, Gerrit Stolker and Ted Vlaming.
Family and friends may gather at Christ Community Church, 428 Geele Avenue,
Sheboygan on Friday January 6, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at
12:00 p.m. Pastor Joshua Van Engen will officiate. Burial will follow in
Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
At this time the family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center and
Sharon Richardson Hospice, especially Theresa.
A memorial has been established in Gerry´s name for Sheboygan Christian School
and Sharon Richardson Hospice.
