While the familiar bell-ringers and red kettles of the Salvation Army are busy during the Army’s largest fund raiser of the year, the annual campaign just got a boost from area financial institutions.
Last Wednesday the “Battle of the Banks and Credit Unions” pitched nine institutions against each other to find one top performer, and that honor went to HSA Bank, which raised $2,158 in its 12-hour shift at Sheboygan’s south side Walmart. That’s HSA’s second consecutive win, as they topped Kohler Credit Union’s $1,664. United One C.U. raised $1,114 and another $1,056 was collected by Johnson Financial Group to round out those gathering over one-thousand dollars.
The Sheboygan Salvation Army will use the total of $8,332 collected to help thousands of Sheboygan County resident who are struggling to overcome the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, inflation, evictions, job loss and more.
The Sheboygan Salvation Army has set a goal of $725,000 this year, and some $120,000 is anticipated from the red kettle donations. Volunteers are still needed, and anyone wishing to help can contact the Salvation Army at www.RegisterToRing.com, or by calling 920-694-1271.
