Kent Schroeter, 58 of Adell, WI, passed away Nov. 27 with his loving wife by his side after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 10, 1964, to Delmar and Nancy Schroeter of Silver Creek. He graduated with the Random Lake High School class of 1982 and continued his education in heavy equipment repair at Moraine Park Technical College. After college he put his degree to work serving as a mechanic at several local businesses but found his true calling when establishing his own business, Schroeter Construction which he ran and worked in for most of his adult life. He was a proud member of the Silver Creek Fire Department since 1982 and served honorably as department chief from 1994 to 2000.
He attended New Life Church of Plymouth where he practiced his faith regularly. He enjoyed many things in life, including family and Silver Creek history, deer hunting with the Silver Creek gang, farming, showing cattle, antique tractors, piloting his powered parachute, astronomy and viewing the sky through his telescopes. He greatly enjoyed traveling which took him on trips to the UK, Germany, and France. He also loved riding motorcycles and seeing the country on his bike. The shared love for motorcycle trips took him and Pat on their most fulfilling adventure as they went west and united in marriage on July 31st, 2008. He was especially proud of putting over 200,000 miles on a pair of BMWs, including a trip to Alaska on one of them. What he loved most of all, though, was pranking his family and friends.
Kent is survived by his parents Delmar and Nancy Schroeter, his loving wife of 14 years Patricia Horne, stepsons Deryck (Brittany) Slatter, Duane Slatter, and Dustin Slatter, grandson Hayden Slatter, brothers Rodney (Kathryn) Schroeter, Neal (LeaAnn) Schroeter, and Kevin Schroeter, and nieces Lara Schroeter, Elsa (Jonas) Haeberle, Britta (Josh) Clark, Anna Schroeter, and Alahznee Schroeter. He is further survived by great-Nieces Frieda and Vivian Haeberle, great-nephew Felix Haeberle, and his canine companion Albert Einstein.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Alfred and Marie Miller, paternal grandparents Alfred and Selma Schroeter, his sister Amy Schroeter and faithful canine companion Mudguts.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted in Kent’s honor at the Silver Creek Fire Department on Saturday, Dec. 10th with visitation starting at 1:30pm and service at 4:00pm. After the service, we invite everyone to stay and join the family for food and refreshments.
