There’s still a month left in 2022, but you don’t have to wait for the new year to be ready for admission to State Parks and Forests in Wisconsin. The 2023 annual admission stickers and trail passes went on sale to the public this past Friday.
DNR Parks Director Steve Schmelzer said that it was hoped that starting sales the day after Thanksgiving would boost visits to Wisconsin’s great outdoors, and also suggested that admission stickers and trail passes make good holiday gifts as well. The vehicle admission stickers, required for all motor vehicles using state parks and recreation areas, cost $28 for residents and $38 for non-residents with reduced rates of $13 for Wisconsin seniors 65 and older, and a second resident sticker in the same household for $15.50. Trail passes are required for everyone 16 or older biking, in-line skating, horseback riding, cross-country skiing or off-highway motorcycling on certain state trails, but as always, walking and hiking are free.
While trail passes are only available on-site or from licensed vendors, the admission stickers can be purchased at park facilities or online, and are valid from date of purchase through December 31st 2023.
