Edmund S. Fleming, age 95, passed away on November 13, 2022, at Heartis Village North
Shore Assisted Living in Glendale surrounded by his family.
He was born in Washington County on September 10, 1927, to the late Stephen and Ellen
(Burg) Fleming. He graduated from Hartland High School, class of 1945 and continued his
education at Marquette University, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting,
graduating in 1951. Edmund proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the
Korean War on the USS Baltimore and at Pearl Harbor before retiring in 1987 from the United
States Navy Reserves at the rank of Commander with over 40 years of dedicated service. On
July 20, 1957, Edmund married the love of his life, Lois Kleinheinz. They were married 54 years
until she preceded him in death on October 15, 2011.
Edmund started his professional career as an accountant at Fonteine, McCurdy & Company
before being employed as a Finance Executive for Gilson Brothers Co. in Plymouth. He enjoyed
many years as Vice President and Secretary of the company, making many lifelong friends.
Edmund was an avid golfer and a member of Pine Hills Country Club for over 50 years. He was
a member of the American Legion Cudworth Post, Knights of Columbus, and the Sheboygan
Elks Club. He enjoyed worldwide travel with his family and friends, summers at the family
cottage “Jeanhaven” on Pike Lake, winters with friends in Arizona, staying active at the YMCA,
and was a lifelong Packers and Brewers fan. He was an active parishioner of Immaculate
Conception Parish in Sheboygan, clocking many volunteer hours there.
Edmund is survived by his children, Nancy Fleming of Shorewood, WI, Patti (Randy) Schilling of
Northfield, MN, Mari (the late Todd) Gutschow of Poway, CA, Susan (the late Peter) Bemis of
Elkhart Lake, WI, Edmund Fleming Jr. of Chicago, IL, and William (Jessica) Fleming of Mequon,
WI; grandchildren, Ryan (Kierstin), Brad, Alyssa Schilling; Patrick (Samantha), Matthew
(Melinda), Nathan (Robin) Gutschow; Aleah (Jeff) Wilson, Nadine Altmann; Alden, Saxon
Fleming; Jackson, Spencer, Ava Fleming; great-grandchildren Leni Schilling; Elijah and Ezra
Gutschow; Tahlea, Isla, and Ronin Wilson; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Along with his parents and wife, Edmund was preceded in death by siblings William Fleming,
Helen Hennig, Mary Fleming and Virginia Dudzek.
A Funeral Mass for Edmund will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 12:00 at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, 1305 Humboldt Ave., in Sheboygan, with Father Paul Fliss
officiating. The family will greet visitors at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
