Lois Prueher, age 85 of Sheboygan passed away Monday evening November 14,
2022, surrounded by the love of her children at Sharon S. Richardson Community
Hospice. Lois was born November 16, 1936, to the late Albert and Marie (Aubut)
Leitl in Wabeno, Wisconsin. Lois attended Sheboygan schools and was a 1955
graduate of North High School. On July 12, 1958, Lois married her high school
sweetheart, Walter Prueher Jr., at St. Dominic Catholic Church. “Tootsie” and
Wally cherished their 50 years of marriage; he preceded her in death in 2008.
Lois enjoyed games and puzzles, bridge club, sewing, singing in the church choir,
her Silver Sneakers class and hosting family get togethers. She loved to shop and
had a passion for thrifting. She treasured her friends in the “Out To Lunch Bunch”,
and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She liked to tell everyone she met
that she had 5 children in 9 years! Lois was a longtime member of St. Clement
Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering there as well as at St. Nicholas Hospital
and the Weill Center. She was employed at the Sheboygan County Treasurer’s
Office for many years.
Survivors include her five children: Mary (Reed) Snyder of Sheboygan, Sue (Jim)
Bellig of Bettendorf, IA, Lynn (Goldie) Goldmann of Sheboygan, Steve (Tina)
Prueher of Milwaukee and Barb Prueher of Sheboygan; grandchildren Jerome
(Stephanie) Mertz, Michael Mertz, Jacob (Lien) Snyder, Stephen Bellig, Johanna
Bellig, Adam Prueher and Lydia Prueher; great-grandchildren Julianna Mertz,
Oliver Snyder and Sophie Snyder, and a sister, Elva (Richard) Posewitz, of Spring
Hill, FL.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Audrey Henning and
a son-in-law, Randy Mertz.
Lois had many caregivers on her journey and they all instantly fell in love with her.
She never lost her sense of humor and made the best of her situations. Her family’s
deepest gratitude goes out to Abby Andris with Dr. Hemsing, Sheboygan Senior
Community, St. Vincent's Hospital, and Sharon Richardson Community Hospice.
A Memorial fund has been established in her name.
Family and friends may gather at St. Clement Catholic Church, 707 N. 6 th Street,
Sheboygan, on Friday December 2, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at
11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Mausoleum.
