SHEBOYGAN, Wis, (WHBL) – Long lines were reported at polling places throughout Sheboygan County and voters showed up to support every Republican candidate on the ballot. The county voted to back Ron Johnson, Tim Michels, Eric Toney, and Amy Loudenbeck. Across the state, the counting continued well past midnight.
Devin LeMahieu will keep his seat in the state Senate, taking 35,631 votes. His challenger, write-in Jarrod Schroeder, grabbed 151 votes.
Republican Terry Katsma took nearly double the votes of his Democratic challenger Lisa Salgado in the race for the 26th Assembly seat.
Republican Amy Binsfield will represent District 27, garnering 14,529 votes to Chet Gerlach’s 8,501 votes.
Cory Roeseler will continue to serve as Sheboygan County Sheriff- winning 34,345 votes. His challenger, Jarrod Fenner, totaled 15,566 votes.
The Sheboygan County Clerk of Circuit Court will change hands as Democratic incumbent Melody Lorge was ousted by Republican challenger Christine Koenig.
Glenn Grothman will keep his congressional seat – taking 37,382 votes. He ran unopposed.
Both Howards Grove referendum questions on the ballot were approved,
Voter turnout in Sheboygan County sat at 76 percent Tuesday night with the highest turnout reported in the Towns of Herman, Scott, Sheboygan Falls, Wilson, and Elkhart Lake. They all reported 84 percent voter turnout. It was lowest in the City of Sheboygan, with voter turnout at 69 percent.
