Paul E. Schwinn, 87, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2022 at
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Paul was born October 27, 1935 in Sheboygan to
the late Paul and Mary (Scheidt) Schwinn. He was the youngest of five children. He attended
grade school at St. John the Baptist and St. Wendel, followed by Central High School.
Paul enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in 1951,
he began working at Koeppen’s Mink Ranch, where he worked for 14 years. After that, Paul
and his brother Marcellus ran the family dairy farm in the Town of Centerville. In 2002 he retired
and moved to Cleveland.
Paul was a member of St. Wendel and later St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He
belonged to the Catholic Knights, Farm Bureau and Lake to Lake Dairy Cooperative. For many
years he bowled in a league. He enjoyed watching sports and westerns, cousin breakfasts and
other family get togethers, going for drives, chatting with his neighbors, and polka music.
Paul is survived by nieces and nephews; Fran (Gary Czaplewski) Vollrath, Susan Wagner,
Deborah (John) Backhaus, Richard (Lenore) Wagner, Alan (Shari) Wagner, and Ann Riddle. He
is further survived by step-nieces, Sandra (Larry) Duzeski and Linda (Peter) Wilke, great nieces
and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Henry
(Lorraine) and Marcellus Schwinn, sisters Kathryn (Robert) Wagner and Frances “Sr. Roseann”
Schwinn, and niece Patricia Schwinn Kanugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St.
Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Rd., Newton, with Fr. David Beaudry
officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at the CHURCH.
Entombment will take place at Knollwood Cemetery in Manitowoc. If you are unable to join the
family for the service, it will be live streamed on Paul’s obituary page on the funeral home
website.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or
St. Lawrence Seminary in Paul’s name.
The family would like to thank St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community for their prayers,
visits and friendship. Thank you also to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and the
other medical staff that aided to his care, and to his kind and caring neighbors, the Vogels.
Uncle Paul lived a simple life, content with what he had and where he was. He will be truly
missed, especially his infectious smile.
