A proposal to consider an addendum to the Sheboygan Area School District’s Middle School Human Growth and Development curriculum has prompted a call to action at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. The center of interest is the planned 10-minute discussion on amending the middle school curriculum reportedly concerning transgender issues.
Russ Otten of the Republican Party of Sheboygan sent out a call to its followers to show up in numbers at tonight’s meeting to object to the addendum, and said that several were already prepared to use 3-minute allotments to voice their opinions. One part of Otten’s message said: “Transgenderism is plaguing our schools.” and also stated that: “Seriously, this is a plague that needs to be stopped by the citizens.”
That meeting at the district offices on Stahl Road begins at 6 p.m. and the community input portion begins at 6:15. Discussion on the addendum is scheduled for 6:25, although that may be later depending on how many speakers appear.
