The Vice President of Instruction at Lakeshore Technical College has been selected as the new President at Bellingham Technical College in Washington.
Dr. James Lemerond will lead northwest Washington State’s only technical college, a school that’s in its 65th year of providing skills-focused education. Lemerond joined LTC as an adjunct instructor and advanced to full-time instructor, dean, and then vice president of instruction in 2018. He led the 2-year school to secure authority to offer Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, was integral in navigating the challenges of learning during the pandemic, and now becomes the first employee in LTC’s history to become the president of another college.
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen said that it was only natural that college boards nationwide are recruiting talent from Lakeshore, given the school’s national leader reputation among two-year colleges.
Lemerond, addressing his departure, expressed appreciation for the support he’d experienced, and said he would “finish out the year with Lakeshore strong and will hit the ground running at Bellingham Technical College” in January.
LTC will now begin a national search for the new vice president of instruction.
