Toby Koepsell, age 62, of Sheboygan passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his family.
Toby came into our world with Down Syndrome on February 20, 1960. After spending a short time at
Southern Colony in Wisconsin (a center for developmentally disabled), he was reunited with his family
where he thrived, sharing his love with everyone he met. He graduated from James Madison School. He
worked many years at RCS in Sheboygan—thoroughly enjoying the RCS Bowling league at Maple Lanes,
and sharing that experience with his many friends. Toby further appreciated and participated in the
Sheboygan County Reins program as well as the Wisconsin Special Olympics, where he competed in
bowling and swimming. After the early passing of his father, Walter Koepsell Jr., Toby became fully
committed to his mother, Erma Koepsell. They shared many adventures together. Toby was a life-long
member of First Congregational Church, UCC. For the years he lived at McKenzie’s Mission, he attended
Crossroads Community Church where he made many friends.
Toby is survived by his siblings, Walter John Koepsell lll, David (Colleen) Koepsell, Mark (Janet) Koepsell,
and Betty (Gary) Szatkowski; sister-in-law Jackie Koepsell; nieces and nephews, Courtney (Tyler) Mars,
Kelly (Matt) Brehm, Katherine (Chris) Stinton, Christy (Michael) Geschke, Kendel (Ryan) Foley, Jacob
(Lisa) Koepsell, Austin (Lynne) Szatkowski, and Jesse (Ashley) Szatkowski; other family and friends
further survive.
Along with his parents, Toby was preceded in death by a brother Paul Koepsell and numerous aunts and
uncles.
A Funeral Service for Toby will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at First Congregational
Church, United Church of Christ, 310 Bluff Ave. in Sheboygan with Pastor Jim Hollister officiating and
Pastor Adam Steinbock from Crossroads Community Church, co-officiating. Family will greet visitors AT
CHURCH on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Toby will be laid to rest in Wildwood
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Toby's name.
The family wishes to thank Heidi Loose of McKenzie’s Mission for providing Toby a loving environment
over the past six years following his mother's death. Additionally, they are grateful to the exceptional
staff at Sharon Richardson Hospice for providing loving care during his final days with us. HE WILL BE
GREATLY MISSED
