MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 on Monday night but were eliminated from the playoff race when the Philadelphia Phillies won in Houston.
The Brewers scored three runs in the ninth to tie the game and two in the 10th to win after Arizona had regained the lead in the extra frame.
Hunter Renfroe homered in the 9th and drove in the game winner in the 10th. Christian Yelich also homered in the game.
Brandon Woodruff went six innings, giving up two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts in his final start of the season.
The Brewers were knocked out of playoff contention a few minutes later when the Phillies finished up a 3-0 win over the Astros.
The Brewers and Diamondbacks will square off again Tuesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:05.
