The identity of the motorcycle operator who died in a fatal crash on Thursday has been released by the Sheboygan Police Department.
In a release on Friday afternoon, the SPD says that 40-year-old Todd A. Hitsman of Sheboygan Falls was the person who lost their life. He died while traveling north on South Business Drive when he approached a line of vehicles that were slowing and stopping in the roadway for a red light at Indiana Avenue. Hitsman, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was unable to avoid the traffic congestion and rear-ended one of the vehicles. Despite life-saving measures given by a citizen along with Sheboygan Police Department Officers and Sheboygan Fire Department Paramedics, he succumbed to his injuries after being transported to St. Nicholas Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation, and the SPD is asking that anyone who may have witnessed, or has further information about it, to call the Department at 920-459-3333. For now, no other vehicles or people are believed to have been involved in the accident.
