A man had to be hospitalized after suffering severe burns caused by hot oil. The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened shortly after 1 O’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Ozaukee County Asphalt Plant on Lakeland Road in the Town of Saukville.
Investigators say the 53-year-old Portage man was transferring heated oil used in the production of asphalt from a tanker to a holding tank when a failure occurred, spraying the victim with heated oil and causing serious injuries. The man, who was an employee with a company that was contracted to deliver the oil, was transported by Flight for Life to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Regional Burn Center for treatment. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
