PHOENIX, AZ (WHBL) – The Arizona Diamondbacks made it six wins in their last seven games as they knocked off the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 on Thursday night in Phoenix.
Merrill Kelly limited the Brewers to just four singles, struck out seven and didn’t have a walk as he pitched seven innings for the D-Backs. The Brewers didn’t have a base runner after the 5th inning.
For the Crew, Brandon Woodruff allowed five runs, all coming with two outs, over 5.1 innings.
Jace Peterson led the Brewers with two hits.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee’s Christian Yelich left the game after the third inning because of what the team called neck discomfort. He was replaced by Tyrone Taylor.
Game two of the four-game series is set for Friday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 8:05.
