September has arrived, and that means that summer is over for many…but not for all.
With the arrival of September, weather forecasters consider summer to be over. The change to cooler weather is now inevitable, and daylight is going down by three minutes a day. But the Autumnal Equinox, which marks the moment the sun is directly overhead at noon on the equator, falls on September 22nd this year, and that’s the astronomical beginning of fall. After that, all arguments are over.
September means the start of school for most of Sheboygan County, the exceptions being Plymouth and Oostburg, where classes begin on Tuesday after the Labor Day Holiday. In Plymouth, summer doesn’t end until the Sheboygan County Fair closes the gates on Monday night, regardless of equinoxes and other calendars.
Judged by the weather we experience, it looks for now like summer will be sticking around for a while, with plenty of sun and even some 80 degree temperatures expected for the next week or more.
