Eugene P. “Gene” Wilhelm, 83, passed away Monday afternoon, August 8, 2022 at Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center.
Born September 15, 1938 in Thorp, WI, Eugene was a son of the late Eugene and Stella Kramasz Wilhelm. He attended Thorp area schools and graduated from Thorp High School. Gene went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He continued his education at Lakeshore Technical College. On May 1, 1993, he was united in marriage to Karen Ann Wangerin at St. Peter Lutheran Church ELCA in Sheboygan.
Gene owned and operated Sheboygan Upholstery from 2000 until 2022. He previously owned and operated Waterbeds Unlimited for 20 years, drove semi-truck, farmed with his father and was a Fuller Brush salesman. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Sheboygan. Gene was a licensed pilot and was a member of the Sheboygan and Manitowoc Chapter 383 of the EAA. He was also a member of the Sheboygan Accordion Club and the NRA. He enjoyed playing the trumpet with The Rainbow Band, riding his BMW motorcycle and attending BMW rallies, and was an avid baseball, basketball and football fan.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Karen; his children, Mary Kay (Reggie) Smith, Michael Wilhelm, Hastings, MN and Terri (Dave) Wilhelm, Verona, WI; five grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Graveside Service for Gene will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lucas Cemetery, N6193 State Highway 32 in Sheboygan Falls. Pastor Dave will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Lucas Cemetery Association and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gene’s name.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Aurora Medical Center Grafton, Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, and Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County for their loving care and support.
