Roger F. Prescher, age 89, of Sheboygan, made his transition on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Countryside Manor in the Town of Sheboygan. He was born on March 1, 1933, in Sheboygan, the son of the late Walter and Alma Kohls Prescher.
Roger graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1952. He served his country for two years in U.S. Navy. On September 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Marilyn Thone, in Sheboygan. Marilyn preceded Roger in death on January 19, 2017.
Roger started his career with Great Lakes Homes in 1955, and eventually became head of engineering department. In 1963 Roger became the assistant manager of the Great Lakes Homes Ohio plant. Then in 1967, he joined Lee Realty as their home designer and obtained his real estate license. In 1982, he was associated with Great Wood Log Homes and designed many models. Roger and his son, Scott, then purchased Charcoal Inn on South 8th Street in 1983, adding the north side location on Geele Ave in 1987.
Roger retired in 1998 and enjoyed his lifelong love of golf. He had many good years playing with the “Legends” at Riverdale Golf Club. In 2005, his back problems affected his legs, and he could no longer play golf. Roger then took up the hobby of watercolor painting. He was proficient at it and sold his paintings around Sheboygan area. Roger loved to paint, and he enjoyed giving a lot of his work to relatives and friends.
Survivors include his son, Scott (Cheryl Tenpenny) Prescher, of Sheboygan; daughter, Mickey Kettering, of California; grandchildren, Tiffany Prescher (Benjamin Titus), of Pewaukee, Tristan (Joshua) Verbeten, of Madison, Bailey Kettering, of Redwood City, California, Jordan (Nicole) Kettering, of Newark, California, Brett Tenpenny, of Manitowoc, Shauna (Sean) Cheema, Palmyra, WI; great-grandchildren, Jameson Titus, Jagger, and Jovie Verbeten; sons-in -law, Dave Kettering, of Surprise, Arizona, and Joe Cunningham, of Manchester, New Jersey; two nieces, Leann Tevsh and Darla (Steve) Altman, both of Sheboygn. He is further survived by other relatives, friends, Bob Holler, Frank Schurer, and Jim Reinhart, and numerous golf buddies. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Debbie Cunningham, a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Roy Williams, and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Prescher.
A memorial service for Roger will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan with Rev. Abree-Lynn officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery.
