Sheboygan County voters largely agreed with the rest of Wisconsin in the August 9 Partisan Primary election.
Tony Evers, running unopposed, won the Democrat nomination, and Sheboygan County agreed with the State overall by approving Tim Michels as the Republican Candidate, topping Rebecca Kleefisch 8,322 to 7,591 in the County.
Sara Rodriquez defeated Peng Her in Sheboygan County 5,253 to 2,041, agreeing with the rest of the State as the choice for the Democrat nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Republicans here also agreed with Wisconsin overall by choosing Roger Roth to oppose her by a vote of 5,486 to 2,051 for Jonathan Wichmann, the nearest competitor.
Sheboygan County Republican voters selected Adam Jarchow to run against Democrat Incumbent Attorney General Josh Kaul, topping the nearest competitor Eric Toney 6,327 to 5,681.
Doug LaFollette, longtime Democrat Secretary of State will run again, this time against Republican Amy Loudenback who won the state vote as she did the County, by 642 votes more than those cast for Jay Schroeder in Sheboygan County.
The State Treasurer vote in Sheboygan County went to Democrat Aaron Richardson, and to Republican Amy Lynn Loudenbeck.
U.S. Senator Ron Johnson easily won both the State and the County Republican vote, while current Lieutenant Governor Democrat Mandela Barns will run against him in November. The County gave him an overwhelming vote of 5,933.
With no formal candidate and a scattering of 198 Democrat votes, Republican Glenn Grothman is poised to retain his seat as U.S. Congress Representative in the 6th District, having received 14,243 County votes, defeating Douglas H. Mullenix who received 2,709.
In the race for the 9th District State Senate seat, only 9 Sheboygan County residents voting Democrat gave Jarrod Schroeder write-in votes, while 250 votes were defined as “scattering”…votes to persons who’s name doesn’t appear on a ballot, and which are too low a percentage to affect the outcome. Republicans, meanwhile, gave Devin LeMahieu an overwhelming 11,003 vote approval of the incumbent, and agreeing with the State vote.
In the 26th Assembly District race, Democrat Lisa Salgado was given 2,775 votes, while incumbent Republican Terry Katsma received 7,367.
There was no Democrat candidate for the 27th State Assembly District, while Republican Amy Binsfeld received 5,531 votes.
Likewise, the 59th Assembly District vote had no Democrat candidate. The Republican race went to Ty Bodden in Sheboygan County, defeating Vinny Egle 577 to 509, agreeing with the State overall.
Sheboygan County Democrats gave 220 votes to a scattering of write-ins, guaranteeing Republican Sheriff Cory Roeseler another term, having received 13,853 of his party’s vote. A scattering of 256 Republican votes were cast for that office.
Christine M. Koenig received 13,196 Republican votes with a scattering of 82 going to others. A Scattering of 140 Democrat votes were cast for that office.
