BOSTON, MA (WHBL) – Hunter Renfroe homered for the second consecutive day against his old team but the Milwaukee Brewers blew an early 2-0 lead and lost 7-2 to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
Renfroe’s second-inning blast brought home Kolten Wong to give Milwaukee the early lead. That would unravel in the bottom of the 5th when starter Aaron Ashby was charged with five hits and five runs – none of which were earned. He was tagged with the loss and falls to 2-9 on the season.
Renfroe finished the day 4 for 4 while Luis Urias and Christian Yelich each added two hits.
Milwaukee falls to 57-45 on the season but hangs on to first place in the NL Central by three games over St. Louis.
The Brewers have Monday off before heading to Pittsburgh for a three-game series beginning Tuesday night.
