Sheboygan County overall, including its Towns, Villages and Cities, will be receiving over $3 million ($3,086,898) in quarterly aid payments from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The payments, announced on Thursday by Governor Evers, are part of the 2022 General Transportation, Connecting Highway, and Expressway Policing Aids.
The largest single share is for the County of Sheboygan, which will receive over $1.6 million in General Transportation Aids. The City of Sheboygan will receive over $630,000 in combined General Transportation Aids and Connecting Highway Aids, while Sheboygan Falls gets nearly $125,000 and Plymouth more than $106,000 in combined aids.
General Transportation Aids help cover the costs of constructing, maintaining and operating roads and streets under local jurisdiction, while Connecting Highway Aids reimburse municipalities for maintenance and traffic control of certain state highways within municipalities.
