MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – A 9th-inning double from PJ Higgins provided the winning run for the Chicago Cubs in a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field.
Milwaukee’s six hits in the game came from six different batters, including a solo homer from Keston Hiura to open the scoring in the 5th. Willy Adames added a double.
Corbin Burnes turned in a quality start with no runs allowed over seven innings. Brad Boxberger was charged with two hits and a run in one-third of an inning for a blown save.
Josh Hader took the loss for giving up the game-winning run in the 9th.
Milwaukee falls to 47-37 on the season.
Thursday will be an off day for the Crew as Pittsburgh comes to town on Friday to start a three-game weekend series.
