Shirley Ann Carrie Selk (nee Grebe) age 92, of Sheboygan Falls, WI, passed away Friday (July 1, 2022)
surrounded by her loving family at the Pine Haven Christian Community Nursing Home in Sheboygan
Falls.
She was born on December 5, 1929, in Sheboygan, WI, a daughter of Raymond and Helen (Miller)
Grebe.
Shirley graduated from Glenbeulah High School in 1947 and attended Beauty School in Manitowoc.
On July 3, 1948 she married Edward Selk at St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah. Her
husband preceded her in death on April 6, 2005.
Shirley lived in the Town of Greenbush, Plymouth and later moved to Sheboygan Falls. She was a
hairdresser for almost 50 years, working for Ricki’s in Sheboygan and later Falls before opening
her own shop (Shirley’s Beauty Shop) in her home in Sheboygan Falls.
She was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish since moving to Sheboygan Falls. She was also a member of
the Christian Mothers of Blessed Trinity and a member of the Plymouth World Cheese Center Post
#5612 Auxiliary.
Shirley loved birds and flowers of all kinds. She also enjoyed camping and going up North with the
family. Shirley and Ed traveled extensively in their motorhome, in retirement to visit many friends
and relatives.
She is survived by two sons: Gerald (Judith) of Sheboygan Falls and Raymond (Debra) of Parnell. She has
six grandchildren: James Selk of Charlotte, NC, Jonathan (Heather) Selk and Jeff (Alyssa) Selk of
Sheboygan Falls, Andrew (Missy) Selk and Raechel (Mike) Wettstein both of Plymouth and Matthew
(Ariel) Selk of St. Paul, MN. Shirley was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Joshua Selk of West Bend,
Justine, Jonas, Zeke, Andrew and Cedar Selk of Sheboygan Falls, Carter, Masee and Ryan Selk and
Hannah and Tristen Wettstein all of Plymouth and Benjamin of St. Paul, MN.
She is also survived by one brother: Kenneth (Eunice) Grebe of Plymouth, Step Brother: Dennis (Nancy)
Raeder of Elkhart Lake, Step sisters: Sharon Birthisel of Colorado and Nancy Brown of California. Shirley
is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Eddie, and one sister: Betty Jane Charles.
A prayer service will be held on Wednesday Evening (July 13, 2022) at 5:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral
Home in Plymouth. Father Jonathon Schmeckel, pastor of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church will officiate.
Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the Greenbush Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday (July 13) from 3:00- 6:00 P.M at the Suchon Funeral Home in
Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name for the Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
