Lorayn A. Vick, age 94, of Plymouth, WI, went home to be with her Lord on June 22, 2022.
She was at home with her daughter at her side while watching the sunrise when she passed.
She was born on August 26, 1927 in Jackson, Wisconsin, a daughter of Alfred and Christina
(Hoefler) Hembel.
Lorayn attended South Prairie Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945.
She also attended Sheboygan County Normal School.
She married Harold Vick on December 20, 1947 at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth.
The couple made their home in Glenbeulah and later resided in the Town of Greenbush.
Harold and Lorayn owned and operated Harold E. Vick Milk Hauling. They hauled milk from a
large area in Sheboygan County, hauling to Kraft Foods in Hartford, WI. They also owned Vick’s
Corner Tavern in Greenbush, and later bought the Plymouth Beer Depot. While owning these
businesses they continued to farm the land on which they lived.
In 1972, the couple moved to the Town of Plymouth and owned and operating the Bar-B-Que
Restaurant until they retired. Harold preceded her in death on April 24, 1981.
Lorayn was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, Where she sang in the choir
for over fifty years. She was also longtime member of the Plymouth VFW Post #5612 Auxiliary.
She volunteered at the Plymouth American Red Cross Blood Bank, where she donated over 16
gallons of blood. She served meals at the Senior Center, volunteered at the Plymouth Senior Center,
was a member and past president of the G.F.W.C. Plymouth’s Women’s Club. In her free time,
Lorayn enjoyed playing golf, being a member of the Tuesday Golf League, as well as playing and
subbing in many bridge clubs.
Lorayn is survived by two daughters: Kathy (Vick) Zimmerman and Diana “DeDe” Vick both of
Plymouth, brother-in-law: Walter Hauser of Jackson, WI. Two Grandchildren: Wendy Vick of
Merrill, WI, and Lee Bonnett of Sheboygan and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She
is further survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, as well as many other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, a son: Gordon, a brother & sister-in-law:
Herman and Darleen Hembel, a sister: Marilyn Hauser, sister-in-law: Betty Hauser, brother-in-law
and sister-in-law: Bill and Dorothy Maser and also by a niece: Susie Hauser, and two nephews: Dan
Hauser and Tom Maser.
Funeral services will be held on Friday evening (July 1, 2022) at 6:00 P.M. at the Suchon
Funeral Home, 1317 State Road 67 in Plymouth. Rev. James Hoppert, Pastor of Salem United
Church of Christ in Plymouth will officiate.
Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. on Friday (July 1) until the time of
services. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Lorayn’s name.
