Cleanup efforts after severe thunderstorms flattened hundreds of trees in Sheboygan Wednesday night have made “significant progress” on the emergency priorities of opening streets and removing trees from homes, vehicles and blocked driveways. That, according to Director of Public Works David Beiebel in a Friday afternoon release.
Biebel reports that crews that “have been working tirelessly” will be working all day Saturday, June 18th to complete removing trees from homes. Biebel advised that roads may be closed without advanced notice for the safety of crews charged with removing the trees.
While City crews have been working on city-owned trees and those in the terrace (parkway) between the sidewalk and the street, those wishing to remove tree debris from their own private property may dispose of it at the drop-off site on New Jersey Avenue, which will remain open except from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, during which tree debris will be ground and the site will be cleaned.
Those with questions or to report a tree issue are encouraged to contact the Department of Public Works website.
