Donna M. Moncrief, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called to be with her Heavenly Father on June 11, 2022.
She was born August 10, 1929 in St. Paul, MN, daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Ring) Wann.
On February 4, 1956, she married William C. Moncrief. They moved to Sheboygan in 1965.
Donna went to school in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from Hamline University St. Paul, MN in 1952 with a R.N., B.S.N. with graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and in Wisconsin. She worked as an Instructor at LTC, a Staff RN, Head Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Division Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nurses at various hospitals in MN and WI. Her last job was Director of Education at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. She served on committees locally and at the state level in the area of nursing education. She wrote and published education materials for nursing and patient education. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and participated in choir, Fellowship Club, Mother’s Club and conducted in home study Bible Classes.
Donna’s interests and hobbies included calligraphy, needlework, sewing, knitting, tatting and crochet. She did rosemaling on wood and textiles. She painted flowers, birds and animals on china. She loved to collect antique colored glass and loved to travel. She was a wealth of knowledge. Donna knew the answer to almost anything and loved to debate what she knew on any subject.
Donna is survived by her four daughters, Mary (Bob) Irish of Sheboygan, Ruth Moncrief of Sheboygan, Judith (Thomas) James of Terra Haute, IN, and Beth Moncrief (fiancé Riley Sutton) of Plover, WI. Additionally, she was blessed with five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy and were the spark of her life, Jonathan (Kelly) Irish, Eoin and Grady of Sheboygan, Sarah (Ryan) Bedroske, Nolan, Samuel and Lilliana of Germantown, WI, Melissa (Joshua) Virant, Jaxon, Griffin and Maverick of Sheboygan, Emily James of St. Paul, MN and Taylor James of Nashville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William in 1992, brother Russell (Janice) Wann and sister Margaret (John) Ellavsky.
A private celebration of her life will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She will be interred in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are appreciated for Bethlehem Lutheran Church to the Endowment Grant-In-Aid Fund.
