NEW YORK, NY (WHBL) – The struggles continue for the Milwaukee Brewers. Chris Bassitt pitched eight innings, giving up just three hits as the New York Mets shut out the Brewers 4-0 in the first of a three-game series in New York on Tuesday night.
Bassitt allowed just three singles and one walk while striking out seven. He got the Brewers to hit into double plays immediately after each of their hits. Drew Smith pitched a perfect ninth inning to seal the deal for New York.
It was the eighth time that the Brewers have been shut out this season.
Milwaukee has dropped nine of their last ten games, getting shut out four times during that stretch. The Crew now trails the St. Louis Cardinals by two and a half games in the NL Central.
The Brewers and Mets will clash again Wednesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 5:35.
