Marie Himley Sartori, age 103, was welcomed into God’s arms on June 5, 2022, at the Waterford Health
Center in Juno Beach, Florida.
Marie Himley Sartori, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born in Sparta,
Wisconsin on August 14, 1918, the only child of Earl and Elizabeth Gibbons Himley. She grew up in
Madison, attending Edgewood grade school, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1935. She
received her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1939, and taught elementary school in
Glenwood City, Wisconsin for a few years.
Marie met the love of her life, Joe Sartori, at UW-Madison, and they were united in marriage on June
28, 1941. They settled in Plymouth, Wisconsin, raised nine children, and later enjoyed their
retirement years in Jupiter, Florida.
Marie loyally supported and counseled Joe throughout his long and storied career in the cheese
industry. Joe co-founded S&R Cheese Corporation now known as Sartori Company in 1939, and
married Marie two years later. Marie often accompanied and supported Joe on national and
international trips. Marie was an avid reader and loved classical music and the arts.
Surviving are her children Maribeth DeRocher; Ann Sartori; Paul (Kathy) Sartori; Susa Silvermarie;
Linda Sartori; Pat (Bob) Sartori-Wharton; Steve (Laura) Sartori; and Jim (Jan) Sartori. She is also
survived by 18 grandchildren: Mark, Dan, Margaret, Laura, Josh, Sarah, JP, Angie, Lainee, David,
Theresa, Lee, Jessica, Natalie, Nick, Bert, Katie, and Maria, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe, and her daughter Cecelia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday (June 21, 2022) at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church, Plymouth, Wisconsin. The Mass will be live-streamed and available to watch
through the Church website – www.sjbplymouth.org.
Visitation will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday (June 21) from 9:30 AM
until the time of Mass. Inurnment will be in the Parish Cemetery following Mass. A Celebration of
Marie’s life and Reception will take place at 1:00 PM at the Plymouth Arts Center.
