WASHINGTON, DC (WHBL) – A three-RBI day from Willy Adames led the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-1 win over Washington on Sunday as the Brewers ended their 8-game losing streak.
Adames went 2 for 4 with a run scored in addition to three batted in. His two hits included a two-run home run in the 5th and an RBI double to open the scoring in the 3rd.
Andrew McCutchen topped off the game with a 9th-inning homer to provide an insurance run.
Omar Navarez and Jace Peterson each had two hits on the day as well.
Jason Alexander went 4.2 innings and allowed seven hits and one earned run but didn’t qualify for the win. That went to reliever Hoby Milner who finished off the 5th inning, then pitched the 6th, allowing just one hit in the process. Josh Hader picked up his 19th save of the season.
It was also manager Craig Counsell’s 563rd career win, which ties him with Phil Garner as the winningest manager in team history.
Milwaukee now sits at 34-28 on the season and in second place in the NL Central.
The Brewers have Monday off, then will begin a three-game series in New York against the Mets.
