Most would not consider it lucky to be a pedestrian hit by a car. But you could call it luck…or just being at the right place at the right time…something went right when that happened to a Kewaskum man on Monday.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said that at about 2:30 Monday afternoon an on-duty Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy was southbound on Highway 45 in the Village of Kewaskum when he saw a northbound vehicle strike a pedestrian crossing the highway near Prospect Drive. The deputy immediately called dispatch and, with lights flashing, began treating the person. He was joined shortly by a second squad that just happened to be nearby, and together they were able to stabilize the pedestrian at the scene. The victim, a Kewaskum man in his sixties, was eventually flighted to Froedtert Wauwatosa where, as of late last night, he was alive but in critical condition with a head injury.
The driver involved in that crash stayed at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
