The total number of persons completing their two-dose vaccine series against the SARS-CoV-2 Virus that causes COVID-19 has now reached 70,000, while case rates continue to decline.
With the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health now moving its weekly report to Fridays, the DPH reports 371 new cases were added since May 23rd, putting the total at 30,580.
For June so far, the number of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 persons reported in the previous 7 days went from 199.41 on May 31 to 184.67 on June 3, while the 7-day total number of new COVID-19 hospital admissions per 100,000 persons over the previous 7 days was cut in half, from 9.8 on May 31 to 4.9 on June 3. However, the number of beds occupied by COVID-19 patients increased from 4, to 7 in the same period with those 3 new patients upping the total hospitalized to 1,240.
A total of 181,359 vaccine doses have been given in the County. 72,818 have received at least 1 dose, a gain of 26 during the week. 70,000 have now gotten their two-dose series, 42 of those in the past week. 38,861 have received boosters, 57 more than on May 31.
Sheboygan County continues to experience a low level of community transmission. Two of the five neighboring counties – Washington and Ozaukee, are at high levels, while the remainder are low.
