(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 3, 2022 – Through the first three weeks of Plymouth Dirt Track Racing B Mod racing competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Jonathan Hitsman of Newton has displayed that he clearly knows the quick way around the venerable third-mile clay oval.
Hitsman busted out of the gate to post back-to-back victories in the first two PDTR B Mod A-main events of the 2022 campaign to firmly establish himself as a frontrunner in the wide-open B Mod ranks. After the first three PDTR B Mod events of the 2022 campaign, Hitsman stands tied for second in the B Mod points race, 18 points behind current points leader Shane Long.
“So far, we’ve just run at Plymouth and our intention coming into the season was to run all of the nights the B Mods are scheduled there,” Hitsman said. “Things have gone pretty well so far and we are just hoping to keep the momentum going.”
Hitsman, who competes as part of a two-car team along with his brother, James Rautmann, has been interested in racing from a early age on, dating back to his time attending races as a young fan in the stands.
“My brother, James, and I both got interested in racing around the same time,” Hitsman said. “We started going to the track with our parents as kids and racing has been a part of our lives for as long as we can remember. It seems like when we were kids we were always dreaming of getting behind the wheel someday.”
Hitsman, who owns four career PDTR B Mod A-main victories in limited starts at The Plymouth Dirt Track, began his career racing in the 4-cylinder division, along with his brother, James, competing at both The Plymouth Dirt Track and the Manitowoc Expo Speedway during the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
“After running the four-cylinders for two years, I took some time off,” Hitsman said. “I came back to racing in 2019 with a Sport Mod [B Mod].”
The 2021 season proved to be a breakthrough season for Hitsman. Despite competing on a part-time basis, Hitsman definitely made an impact on the nights he did race as he notched a pair of A-main victories in B Mod competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track.
“Last year was definitely a highlight for me, winning two A-mains at Plymouth and always being a top contender whenever we raced,” Hitsman said. “Our goal this year, is to finish in the top five in the A main every night and always be competitive anywhere we go. As a team, we are always trying to better ourselves with every race we enter.”
Along with his starts at Plymouth this year, Hitsman is hoping to add stops at a few other tracks to his schedule before the close of the 2022 campaign.
“While we’ve just run at PDTR so far this year, we would like to travel a few nights before the year is over,” Hitsman said. “We are looking at hitting Beaver Dam Raceway, 141 Speedway and maybe run Gravity Park Speedway yet this year, if possible.”
The 2022 sponsors for the Jonathan Hitsman Racing Team include Richardson Industries, B & N Drywall and Painting, Knockouts Tap, Busch Light, Harters Disposal, Peterson Septic Systems and Mark Petrie Fabrication.
The members of the 2022 Jonathan Hitsman Racing Team crew include Connor Tune, Blake Tune, Sage Klein, Ana Beniger and Werner Binkowsky III.
“Also this year, we are racing to raise awareness for suicide prevention,” Hitsman said. “I would like to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone making it possible for us to do what we love.”
