Sheboygan County has an opening on its Board of Adjustments and is hoping to get two persons to apply for the position.
The vacancy is for a person who is a qualified elector and resident in any of the unincorporated – or rural – areas of Sheboygan County, and since no two members may be from the same township, positions from the Towns of Greenbush, Holland, Lima, Lyndon and Rhine are already filled and residents there need not apply.
The Board reviews and decides appeals to decisions made by the County concerning sanitary, shoreland, floodplain, nonmetallic mining, and airport height limitation ordinances, and when established rules make for unnecessary hardship, the Board can grant variances. A candidate doesn’t need specific legal, zoning, or conservation knowledge – but it would be valuable – and training sessions will be available.
The County Administrator makes the Board of Adjustments appointments which are confirmed by the County Board. Applicants should send a letter of interest and brief resume or biography to the attention of County Administrator Adam Payne at the Sheboygan County Administration Building, 508 New York Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, June 20th.
