Ronald Arvin Hansmann of Cleveland passed away peacefully at home Thursday morning, May
12, 2022. Ronald, son of Arno and Elsie (Fiedler) Hansmann, was born July 22, 1933, in the
home of the family farm in the township of Schleswig. He graduated from Kiel High School in
1951. In 1954 Ron volunteered for the draft in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in
1956. After returning, he married Jessie Logan on November 22, 1956. They enjoyed 62 years
of marriage and were blessed with 7 children. Ron was employed by Kohler Company for 32
years retiring in 1995 and also worked at the Cleveland Co-op and part-time at LTC.
In his spare time, Ron enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, bowling, baseball, and playing cribbage
with his family and playing cards-preferably 3-handed Sheepshead. He enjoyed his annual
fishing trip to Canada with friends for many years. He also loved to fish Lake Michigan and
anywhere else friends would take him. Deer hunting in Nielsville each winter provided many
good times and fond memories with friends. (And sometimes even netted some venison.) He
was involved in baseball as a player, coach, and umpire. He coached from pee-wees to colts,
coaching his own kids and countless others. He continued his coaching career with the Paulie’s
Palace mens softball team for many years. Ron was inducted into the Cleveland Athletic Hall of
Fame in 1993.
Ron was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the Cleveland Fish & Game.
As a life-long Wisconsinite, he was a loyal (and sometimes vocal) fan of the Packers, Brewers
and Badgers. He not only enjoyed watching collegiate and professional sports, but he also
enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete.
Ron is survived by 2 sons: David (Ann) Hansmann of Plymouth, Jeff (Mary Lee) Hansmann of
Kohler and 4 daughters: Diane Hansmann (Chico) of Hanover Park, IL, Debbie (Steve) Miller of
Boise, Idaho, Jennifer Hansmann (Andy) of Crystal Lake, Jackie Hansmann (Tate) of Elkhart
Lake and son-in-law Kai Fong. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren Mei (Jake), Kim
(Garrett), Danielle, Nicole (Jeff), Megan, Jerry (Jessica), Jordan, Jazmine, Tara, Logan, Cylus,
Sarah (Todd), Eric (Stacy), and Katie (Mitch). 11 great grandchildren Elliot, Ezra, Talitha,
Ephraim, Gabe, Greg, Lilly, Aria, Elise, Morgan, and Sage. He is also survived by his sister
Darlene (Allen) Mobley of Blue Springs, MO & nephews: Tony (Kelli) chappelow, Ben
Chappelow, and Jakob Mobley; a sister-in-law Susan Johnson, nephews; Chris Logan, Sean
Johnson, Eric Johnson and one niece Melanie Johnson who still owes him a dollar from
cribbage.

Hansmann-Fong, sister-in-law Barbara Logan and brothers-in-law Bill, John, Wally, John &
