CINCINNATI, OH (WHBL) – Despite hitting five home runs, Christian Yelich hitting for the cycle and a six-run 9th inning, the Milwaukee Brewers were beaten by the Cincinnati Reds 14-11.
Milwaukee was down 7-0 after the first two innings as poor pitching and defense plagued the Crew. Only three of the seven early runs were earned for the Reds. But the bullpen didn’t fare much better as Cincy added one more in the fifth and six in the 8th.
Adrian Houser took the loss.
Hunter Renfroe homered twice for Milwaukee. Jace Peterson, Mike Brosseau and Yelich also homered. Yelich also singled, doubled and tripled, getting his 3rd cycle against the Reds and 4th overall in his career.
Milwaukee dropped two of three to the Reds and fall to 20-12 on the season. The Brewers have Thursday off before beginning a weekend series in Miami.
