Where there’s smoke – there’s fire, and in most cases people call in to report it. But don’t be alarmed if you see it northwest of Sheboygan Falls on Thursday as it’s a planned burn, and Sheboygan Falls and County officials have already been notified.
Weather permitting, Midwest Prairies, a woodland, prairie and habitat restoration company, will be burning prairie grasses in several areas near Bemis on their behalf in order to promote native plant and seed germination and increase overall density.
According to Midwest Prairies such burns are often done every year for several years, recreating a natural process that’s vital to restoring habitats that once covered much of southern Wisconsin.
