When Sheboygan Police alerted the public to reports of a shooting at the downtown Bus Transfer Station at 1:36 p.m. Friday afternoon, those in downtown Sheboygan were advised to shelter in place. The “Nixle” alert said that one person was known to have suffered a gunshot wound, their injuries weren’t known at that time.
By 2:40 p.m., the all-clear was given for businesses to resume normal operations, for normal release times for students at school and a resumption of regular schedules at the Bus Transfer Station. As of 4 p.m., the suspect remained at large.
Police did say that the victim, a 17-year old male, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He reportedly met the suspect in an alley in the 500 block of North 8th Street prior to the incident, and both are known to each other. The suspect fled the scene and as of 7 p.m. Friday, was still at large.
Police believe this is an isolated incident and are actively involved in locating the suspect and any other individuals involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheboygan Police at (920) 459-3333.
