When the calendar says “May” but frost and bare trees still abound, it might be hard to picture picnics, sunshine and celebrations. That being said, warm-weather events have been in the planning stages and many of those are now finalized and ready for launch, two of those on Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, May 28th, what’s known as “Der Sheboygan Biergarten” has its season opening celebration at Kiwanis Park from noon until 10 p.m. The event will then repeat every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until October 2nd. The 2022 inaugural event will feature a brat fry – of course – benefitting Sheboygan Youth Softball, all accompanied by music by the Waltzmeisters.
The “Big One” in May is, of course, Memorial Day on Monday the 30th, and that will include the parade in downtown Sheboygan starting at 9 a.m. A ceremony honoring U.S. veterans and active-duty personnel at Fountain Park follows the parade, and then…what else? A brat fry! You can find details in the City’s “Sheboygan Insider” publication, available here.
