Alderperson Markus Savaglio has announced his decision to resign from the Sheboygan Common Council.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson was notified of Savglio’s intent in a letter last week. In it, Savaglio explained that “It is with great sadness that I must resign from my position as Alderperson of District 5 as of 11:49 PM on May 4th, 2022. I have enjoyed the past few years of serving the residents of Sheboygan, trying to assist them with their issues, and working to build a stronger, more vibrant community every day”
Savaglio said that he had to resign after the purchase of a new home that better suits the needs of his growing family, and will be moving to Sheboygan’s north side, outside of his present district.
Savaglio was elected to his District 5 post in 2017 when he defeated incumbent Job Hou-seye, and most recently was reelected in 2021. He served on the Public Works Committee and was a member of the Architectural Review Board. His resignation will be addressed in tonight’s Common Council meeting.
