Taking exemplary care to immunize children age 2 and under by a Howards Grove clinic has been rewarded by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
The agency on Monday announced 18 health care providers have been recognized for vaccinating 90% or more of their patients who are 2 years old and younger, based on 2021 data from the state immunization registry.
The Aurora Health Center in Howards Grove was the only local winner of the “Big Shot” award, having completed recommended vaccine series for at least 90% of the youngsters in their care.
Many Wisconsin children fell behind on getting their vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. State Health Officer Paula Tran said that the state is “grateful for the leadership of these providers and their commitment to keeping our youngest residents healthy.”
Winners will receive a certificate they can display in their waiting rooms.
