Two persons face multiple charges after leading officers on a high-speed chase that injured a deputy and a K9 officer.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig said Deputies began the pursuit early Saturday morning in an attempt to stop a stolen Toyota Highlander being operated recklessly on Highway 10 near the Township of Manitowoc Rapids. The operator, identified as 28-year-old Juan Flores of Neenah, fled westbound on 10 at speeds of over 100 mph and, according to the Sheriff, with no regard for traffic laws.
When Flores turned onto a dead-end road in the Village of Reedsville, he proceeded to ram police vehicles and then tried to flee on foot but was apprehended. While that was happening his passenger, 20-year-old Jessica Loney of Manitowoc County, took the wheel and used the SUV to push two squads out of the way and fled, nearly striking deputies and pinching K9 Leon in-between two vehicles. A second pursuit then chased Loney through village roads and eventually back onto Highway 10.
Officers conducted a PIT maneuver, causing the Highlander to enter the ditch. Loney was immediately apprehended.
Juan Flores was arrested for 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, vehicle operator knowingly fleeing/eluding an officer, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, resisting/obstructing an officer, and a warrant through Probation and Parole.
Jessica Loney was arrested for recklessly endangering safety, vehicle operator knowingly fleeing/eluding an officer, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, felony bail jumping, possession of a schedule 2 narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and a felony warrant.
In total, the pursuits lasted 14 minutes, covered 15 miles and injured a deputy and K9, both of whom were treated for minor injuries and released.
