The first meeting of the 2022-23 Sheboygan Common Council will convene at 6 this evening at City Hall, with newly, and re-elected members being sworn in and officers elected.
Two new alderpersons will take their seats on the council; Joseph Heidemann will become District 10 Alderperson after having defeated incumbent Andre Walton, and Zachary Rust will fill the position held by Leslie Laster who served the remaining term of Ryan Sorenson as District 8 Alderperson when he was elected Mayor last year. Following the swearing in of the members and adoption of the rules of the Common Council, the President and Vice President of the Council will be elected.
The appointments of one representative on the City Plan Commission and two on the Capital Improvements Commission are next, followed by a recess that will be used to elect the Chairperson of the Committee of the Whole.
The Common Council will then reconvene to complete tonight’s meeting.
