What began as a one-vote victory became a tie, and then a victory once again for Joseph Heidemann.
Heidemann had challenged incumbent Andre Walton for the 10th District Alderman seat and, on Wednesday morning, was declared the winner 403-402. However, an absentee ballot that had previously been rejected was accepted…and it contained a valid vote for Walton, tying the race at 403 apiece.
The Board of Canvassers exercised their right to determine the means of breaking the draw, and they chose a draw of cards. Heidemann drew a King, and Walton a three, and Heidemann was declared the winner.
The Board of Canvassers said that no other races in Sheboygan County were affected during the official canvass of Tuesday’s vote.
