At lease two races from Tuesday’s election will be closely scrutinized when the Municipal Board of Canvassers makes the official review of all Sheboygan County ballots on Friday morning.
One of those involves the race for Sheboygan District 10 Alderperson in which the Republican-supported candidate Joseph Heidemann defeated incumbent Andre Walton by a single vote, 403-402. Russ Otten of the Republican Party of Sheboygan County claims that the Sheboygan City Clerk’s office contacted him Wednesday afternoon to inform him of the discovery of an additional vote that would be presented during the canvass, and would provide no details other than to say it was related to “human”, rather than “machine” error. Alderperson Walton is already on record as wanting a recount in that race but is awaiting results of the official canvass before making that request.
Otten also drew attention to the results of Sheboygan County Board District 16 in which Kevin Sande, who is supported by Republicans in the non-partisan election, was defeated by John Nelson 376 to 260. According to Otten the Plymouth Clerk’s office misreported results of that race and also mistakenly posted votes for the Appeals Court for Sande and Nelson. Otten said he met with County Clerk Jon Dolson Wednesday morning to review tapes of the election and determined it was an honest mistake.
The Board of Canvassers convenes at 9 AM Friday at Sheboygan City Hall.
