Larry J. Olivera, age 72, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on
Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Aurora Memorial Sheboygan Medical Center, one day short of his and
Nancy’s 52 nd anniversary.
Larry was born on July 19, 1949, in San Jose, California, to Ralph and Barbara (Ulrich) Olivera.
Larry graduated from Homestead High School in Cupertino, CA, with the class of 1967. After
high school graduation, Larry moved with his family to Fort Madison, Iowa. His parents later
moved to Sheboygan, and when Larry traveled to visit them, he met the love of his life, Nancy
Platkus. Larry and Nancy were united in marriage on April 4, 1970, in Sheboygan. Together, they
raised two children, Michelle and Tracy.
Larry worked for Quasius Construction for many years. He was an avid Packer fan and golf
enthusiast. He was a ‘thrift shop guru’ and garage sale treasure hunter and was always looking
for the next great find.
In addition to his family, Larry will be missed by so many friends – especially Steve and David.
Larry was a fantastic storyteller and could captivate any audience with his nonstop hysterical
stories.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 52 years, Nancy; daughters, Michelle DePagter and
Tracy Engles; grandchildren, Devlin and Dalton; granddog, Jesse; siblings, Linda (Glenn)
Schanilec, Lori (Marc) Chamlee, Lenny (Angel) Olivera, Leslie (Doug) Krueger, Lee (Rita) Olivera,
Lon Olivera, Leilani (Dave) Marchand, Lance (Lauren) Olivera; sisters-in-law, Sue (Ted) Brunette
and Heidi Olivera; many beloved nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Barbara; and brother, Louis Olivera.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Larry at a later date.
Larry’s family would like to thank the nursing staff at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical
Center for their wonderful care and compassion, especially Tess.
