Dorothy L. Behr, age 90, Plymouth, WI, entered eternal life early Thursday morning
(March 31, 2022) at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls surrounded by
her loving family.
She was born on May 13, 1931 in Ripon, WI, a daughter of the late Herman and Louise
(Schneider) Ratzburg.
Dorothy graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. On June 9, 1951 she married
Peter Behr Jr. at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. The couple has resided in
the Town of Plymouth all their married life. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2002
Dorothy was employed for a short time at Borden’s Foods in Plymouth and also worked
for Clevepak Company. She also worked as a volunteer school nurse for Parkview
Elementary School and for the Elkhart Lake School Lunch Program. She owned and
operated Behr’s Bait Barn from 1987-1995.
She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Greenbush. Dorothy
belonged to the Tri-County Sportswomen’s Club, the Crystal Lake Sportsman’s Club
serving a term as president, represented Sheboygan County Conservation Association as
a delegate to the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation and helped with youth programming at
the Outdoors Skill Center.
Dorothy’s greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed
sewing, crocheting, woodcarving, painting, rock collecting and gardening.
Survivors include her children: Carol Thelen (David Johnson) of the Town
of Plymouth, David (Katherine) Behr of Sheboygan Falls, Kaye (Dean) Hau of Town of
Greenbush, Dale (Diane) Behr of the Town of Plymouth, Bruce (Sue) Behr of Plymouth;
Ten grandchildren: Liza (Jason) Wilson of Plymouth, Sara Behr (Ted Weidman) of Two
Rivers, Aaron (Katrina) Hau of Town of Plymouth, Michelle (Francis) Arbuckle of Town
of Greenbush, Marshall (Abbey) Hau of Town of Greenbush, Jeremy Behr and Tiffany
Behr, both of Town of Plymouth, Brittany (Matt) Holschbach of Sheboygan Falls, Julia
Behr and Laura Behr (Edward Ristow) both of Plymouth; 16 great-grandchildren: Quinn
and Layla Wilson, T.J and Sonia Wiedman, Lydia and Lyla Hau, Jacob and Katherine
Arbuckle, Tate Southworth, Eleanor and August Hau, Seth Flunker, Autumn Behr,
Greyson and Emily Holschbach and Levi Behr; one great-great-granddaughter: Isabella
Bretton. Four sisters: LaVerne (William) Eickberg of Plymouth, Arlene Heckmann of
Plymouth, Mary (Butch) Thiel of Plymouth, JoAnne (Dick) Sedlachek of Kiel. One
sister-in-law: Adeline Doherty of Plymouth.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Son-in-law: Michael Thelen, One brother:
Edward (Laura) Ratzburg, Two sisters-in-law: Grace (Albert) Salzwedel and Eunice
Behr; and Three brothers-in-law: Ken Heckmann, Michael Klaeser and Robert (June)
Behr.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday (April 6 th ) at 10:30 AM at the Suchon
Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Ric Olson, Pastor of New Hope United Methodist
Church in Greenbush will officiate. Entombment will be in Garden of Peace Mausoleum
in Town of Sheboygan.
Visitation will be on Tuesday (April 5 th ) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from
4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday morning (April 6 th ) from 9:00 AM until the
time of services at 10:30 AM.
Dorothy’s wish is to set up a memorial fund to help the Outdoor Youth Groups in area.
